Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure that can be done in less than an hour. Its main purpose is to reduce the size of an enlarged or extended frenulum. Labial frenectomy involves removing some parts of the frenulum that connects the lips and gums. This procedure is most frequently done on patients who are getting orthodontic braces. Because a frenectomy is a minor procedure, it doesn't cause any major discomfort to the patient. The frenulum can also heal quickly as long as the proper postoperative procedures are followed.
